TITLE SPONSOR

The organisers are pleased to announce that British Horse Feeds have continued their long association with the Red Dragon by agreeing to be Title Sponsor for another two years.  Will I'Anson, Sales Director for British Horse Feeds said “I am so pleased that we continuing our long association with this prestigious ride.  We look forward to the event continuing to grow and become even more popular as a celebration of endurance riding at all levels”.

British Horse Feeds is the new name for the company that supplies Speedi-Beet, Fibre-Beet and now, a range of brand new equine feeds: Natural Country. The original Horse & Pony and Natural Country Cool 'n' Calm Feeds are joined by specialist mixes for older horses and horses in competition. They are also one of the first feed manufacturers to commit to a new feed code to reduce the risk of naturally occurring prohibited substances (NOPS) in equine feeds.

British Horse Feeds are not only Title Sponsors but have also sponsored the three main classes as follows:

NEW CLASS - THE DRAGON'S FLAME

The Dragon's Flame is a new class, a 2 day 124km GER, 62km on Saturday and 62km on Sunday.  The two days are not linked, so national trophy points are awarded separately for each day.  Each combination must qualify during the current season in order to enter, as follows.

QUALIFICATION

A combination must complete a minimum of two GER's of at least 48km (distances as advertised in the Handbook) at a speed of at least 12kph in the current season in order to qualify for the Dragon's Flame.  The two GER's can be completed at any level, including NOVICE.  However, NOVICE combinations must upgrade to OPEN level  before competing in the Dragon's Flame class.  The Dragon's Flame "final" can be entered by OPEN and ADVANCED combinations only.

RESULT

The result of the Dragon's Flame will be determined by totalling the national trophy points for each day, treating each day as a separate class.  In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined from the highest total Performance Formula score over the two days.

KBIS BRC TEAM ENDURANCE FINAL

We are pleased to announce that the Final for the KBIS BRC Team Endurance Competition is to be hosted by the British Horse Feeds Red Dragon Festival of Endurance again this year.  We are expecting up to 20 teams from Wales, Scotland and England to contest the final after having qualified their teams at EGB and SERC rides all over the country.

CLARIFICATION OF SPECIAL CLASSES

Note that all the Special Classes are run as separate classes on each day and are recorded on the Mastercard as separate classes. This means that, for example, in the Dragon's Days, a combination can pass the first two individual classes (on Friday and Saturday) and fail the third (on Sunday), but still have the distance and trophy points attributed to them for the first two. However the combination must pass all three classes to be eligible for the Dragon's Days competition.  Please see Special Classes for more details..

CORRALLING

This year corralling during the day will be allowed next to lorries and trailers in the car park and camping areas PROVIDED THAT that there is a responsible person in attendance at all times that the horse or horses are in the corral.  All corrals MUST be electrified.

Please note that ALL horses must either be stabled or corralled in the designated enclosed corralling area BEFORE it gets dark.

The closing date for POSTAL entries to the British Horse Feeds Red Dragon Festival of Endurance is Monday 16^th September 2013 (postmarked).

The closing date and TIME for ONLINE entries to the British Horse Feeds Red Dragon Festival of Endurance is 12 NOON (MIDDAY) on Friday 20^th September 2013.

Late entries are not being accepted, either postal or online, so late entry fees do not apply.

Apologies if these dates seem a little far in advance of the first day of the ride.  The Organisers and Entries Secretary are taking this approach so that we can administer all the entries in time to be able to send out all the information packs on Tuesday 24^th September.  In turn this means you will all receive your pack by the weekend BEFORE the event, giving the competitors plenty of time to digest the information and plan their weekend in Wales with their crews and supporters.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation in submitting your entries on time - and please spread the word to your friends who might not look at this website!

DRAGON FOOD AND BAR

Due to popular demand we have made arrangements for a second year for Debbie Granger at the Neuadd Henllan Residential Centre on the Showground to make a two course meal available for Friday and Saturday.  Meal tickets at £12 each can be purchased in advance only with your entry (not on the day)  and should be collected from the ride office.

A sample menu is under the Ride Information > Camping, Accommodation & Food.  The actual menu may vary a little from that shown according to availability.

And yes there will be a bar open in the main office building (Hafod A Hendre) from 18.00 to 23.00 each day.  There will also be some wine and beer on sale in the Neuadd Henllan Residential Centre during meal times.
